I can remember as a young child how I loved to draw. I won my first drawing contest when I was 8 years old that was held by the local fire company. Art became my major in school including an interest in graphic design. I picked up my first camera when I was a young adult and instantly became hooked. It opened up a new world to explore art and creativity with a different medium. I was determined to learn everything I could about the camera and photography. That journey continues to this day as I see a never ending need to learn.
I have photographed many different genres from landscapes to sports to documentary to weddings and portraits. I ended up becoming primarily a wedding photographer which helped accelerate my desire to learn and grow as a photographer. As a wedding photographer it is vital to know your equipment and understand light. Nothing is the same with weddings…...different locations, different environments, rainy days, sunny days, cloudy days and you have to capture those images regardless of the conditions you are handed.
Over the past several years I’ve had the opportunity to teach photography and specifically lighting throughout the US. I find it an honor to be able to give back to beginner photographers and help them understand light and how that knowledge can help them improve their photographic endeavors.
